From the 1st September 2025, our school will be offering breakfast and after school club in our school hall.
Please see letter below that was sent to families on 15th May 2025 with details of our breakfast and after school club provision.
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are writing to you today to inform you that from September, 2025, wraparound care (breakfast and after school club) at our school will no longer be provided by Grow Happy Childcare in the playground cabin. Instead, it will be provided by St. Peter’s School staff in the school hall.
The breakfast club hours of operation will be from 7.30am until the beginning of the school day. School staff in the breakfast club will ensure children are transported safely from the school hall to their own classrooms.
The after-school club hours of operation will be from the end of the school day (3.15pm for Nursery children and 3.20pm for children in the main school building) until 6.00pm.
Costs will be as follows:
Breakfast club: £6 per day
After school club until 5.00pm: £7 per day
After school club until 6.00pm: £10 per day
There will be no changes to the legal structure or governance of our school. The school is already registered with Ofsted, and we shall inform Ofsted of our enhanced school wraparound provision in order to ensure that all aspects of school provision are registered with them.
We are a school recognised for the quality of our early years provision, with strong EYFS leadership within the senior leadership team, which includes the headteacher.
As a school, we have accommodated the wraparound care club within our buildings and grounds for many years. We have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with the leaders and staff of Grow Happy Childcare. Of course, the employment of the staff of the current wraparound care club at our school – the Grow Happy staff known to our children – will be protected under the legal process of TUPE.
We are very experienced in working with parents and with the community, and in training new staff to the high standards of our school.
Continuous Professional Development and Training
At St. Peter’s, we have a systematic approach to paediatric first aid training, first aid at work training and food hygiene training, and this will now be extended to our wraparound club staff.
As a school and a Trust, we also have a systematic approach to the updating and sharing of policies and risk assessments with all of our staff team, which will include our wraparound care club staff. Staff within the wraparound care club will have full access to our school and Trust training in Child Protection and Safeguarding, as well as our regular safeguarding briefings. Staff in our school (including our new wraparound care club) will undergo ongoing continued professional development in order to progress their careers, and to stay updated on regulatory requirements and best practice.
Staff in the wraparound care club will have a full awareness of our school Designated Safeguarding Lead (Mrs Ryan) and two deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (Mrs Barber and Mrs Russell). Designated Safeguarding Leads will be on site, or will be fully contactable by wraparound club staff, at all times.
Inclusion – all children will be most welcome in our new wraparound care club
Our Vision Statement contains the following words: We have high ambitions for all our learners, and provide opportunities for children to achieve excellence in all areas of school life – each and every day. St. Peter’s Catholic Primary School exists to develop the spiritual, academic, social, moral and physical development of the children entrusted to our care.
Our Mission Statement contains the following words: St. Peter’s Catholic Primary School is at the heart of a Christ-centred community where every person’s uniqueness is celebrated with joy, and is truly valued. We foster caring, supportive relationships based on mutual respect and love.
Our Inclusion Statement has the words: Within our school we celebrate the diverse achievements and abilities of all pupils. We aim to provide … the support, resources, opportunities and challenges to enable each child to achieve their full potential.
As a school, we are committed to meeting the needs of all of our children, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. We will maintain open communication with all of our families and will involve them in decisions about the wraparound provision through annual updates and through parental feedback surveys. Activities will be designed to celebrate diversity and to promote inclusivity, ensuring that all children feel valued and included.
By bringing the provision ‘in-house,’ with employees of our school delivering the provision on a daily basis, we will be able to offer families the ability to leave their children in the main school building to be cared for by our school staff team. Our provision will be planned so that our children are encouraged to be physically active every day, and so that routines for a healthy lifestyle are instilled in them.
We hope that extending our provision in this way will be of real benefit our school and to our families.
Very soon, we will be in touch with all of our St. Peter’s families who currently attend Grow Happy’s breakfast and after school club. We will be asking these families whether or not they would like a place in our new St. Peter’s wraparound care club. Soon after this, we will offer all of our families the opportunity to book places in our club, either before or after school. Details of how to book will be communicated very shortly.
With thanks for your support in this new venture for St. Peter’s,
Mrs Ryan
